West Berkshire have announced an On-Demand Bus Service to replace the existing timetabled 5,5a and 5c services, it looks like they’re also adding one scheduled service as well once per day (in and out). Changes start from Monday 15th January 2024
Explanation from West Berks is as follows….
“We are introducing a new on-demand bus service in the North Downlands area of West Berkshire. The first journey is a fixed route replacing the 5 service serving schools and colleges in the Newbury area. We have added another fixed journey in the afternoon which will start from Newbury College and serve the Downlands Villages, please see this leaflet for details: WestBerks onDemand Bus details inc Timetable.
Between the hours of 09:00am and 14:30pm this service will be bookable you can do this by using the App (Ready on the 08 January 2024) this can be downloaded from the App or Google play stores.
Or there is a telephone number or you can email us.
Hopefully, the website will be ready soon which will be at: https://www.westberks.gov.uk/communityconnect (Ed: NB, the website link currently doesn’t work!)
From Monday 18 January we will have a couple of Officers on the buses showing passengers how to book the bus. We will also be distributing publicity around the villages and dropping them off at key locations.
