Peasemore benefits from a number of housing association properties managed by West Berkshire Council through Southern Housing and Sovereign Housing. The Land for Palmer Close was kindly donated by Lieutenant Colonel Rodney Palmer to provide low cost housing for the Parish of Peasemore.

– these houses are protected under a Section 106 and are for the benefit of those eligible on the Housing Register with links to the village.

The current allocation process is outlined below:

Palmer Close Housing Allocations

Applicants must have a ‘Housing Need’ as identified by West Berkshire Council to apply for a property. The Housing Allocation Policy can be viewed here.

All the properties in Palmer Close are let under a Section 106 Agreement- this agreement states that priority will be given to applicants who have:

  1. Ordinarily been resident within the Parish and are statutorily homeless and / or in need of low cost housing.
  2. Ordinarily been resident within the Parish and are on the West Berkshire Council Housing Register.
  3. A strong local connection to the Parish – i.e. family associations, permanent employment in the parish or born in the parish.
  4. Any of the above situations within an adjoining parish.

Peasemore Parish Council will be notified as and when property is becoming available to let. If you are interested in applying for a property at Palmer Close and meet the above conditions it is worth leaving your details with the Parish Council Clerk – peasemorepc@gmail.com (details will be kept confidential). The Parish Council are notified of a vacancy one day before it goes live on the Home Choice website. If we have your details and consent on file we can email you the advert and details of how to apply before the property goes live.

Please note that the Parish Council have no influence in the allocation or the eligibility assessment process we can only ensure that priority is being given in accordance with the Section 106 Agreement.

West Berkshire Council manage the housing register eligibility criteria – full details of which can be found here https://www.homechoicewestberks.org.uk/
